A VIN verification is an official process that involves a government official or representative inspecting the VIN of your vehicle for accuracy. The University Police Department can conduct a physical examination of your vehicle and check whether or not your VIN is visible, authentic and complete.
What to Bring
The VIN verification process must be completed in person at the University Police station. Please bring the following:
- Up-to-date vehicle registration
- Up-to-date insurance information
UPD will complete the Verification of Vehicle Identification Number (DMV-1B) form. If we determine that your VIN, hull identification number (HIN) or serial number is illegible, missing or destroyed, you will be asked to pay a $5 fee for the issuance of a new VIN.
