University Police hosting active shooter trainings throughout April for employees

To provide more training opportunities on emergency procedures in response to recent feedback from our campus community, the University Police Department (UPD) invites faculty and staff to attend active shooter trainings on select dates throughout April.

This in-person training will teach employees how to respond if an active shooter is nearby and equip them with the knowledge needed to stay as safe as possible. University Police officers will discuss the definitions of an active threat and active shooter, identifying suspicious behaviors and how to respond in the event of an active shooter. They will also cover de-escalation tactics, including using empathy and speech to redirect situations and understanding tone and body language.
