University Police hosting self-defense training on Sept. 15

West Virginia University Police will host a P.R.O.T.E.C.T. training on Tuesday, Sept. 15, for students, faculty, and staff focused on valuable self-defense techniques.

The training will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Student Health Building, Room 101, located near the Student Rec Center.

Officers recommend that participants wear comfortable, athletic clothing, and tennis shoes.

P.R.O.T.E.C.T. is an immersive training that uses hands-on demonstrations to provide participants with the skills needed to recognize a threat, escape an attack, and get to a safe place to call for help. Participants will learn striking techniques, takedowns, and escape holds, and will gain information on developing situational awareness.

Space is limited, and registration is required. Reserve your spot here.

The P.R.O.T.E.C.T. training and all other trainings are also available to campus groups by request. Learn more about trainings
