K-9 Explosives Unit Dog Nina

Explosives Detection Dog

Nina is a golden retriever who serves the University Police Department as an explosives detection K9. Armed with special training and a great sense of smell, she can often be found working large University gatherings and athletic events. Nina and her handler, Lt. Josh Cook, perform building searches, monitor athletic venues and assist in any way they can to keep our campus safe.

When she’s not working, you can find her at home with Lt. Cook and his family. Her favorite hobbies include begging for Milkbones and persuading her human siblings to give her treats at dinner time. She is also known to steal the cat’s food when no one is looking. Nina adores Lt. Cook’s children and is just as loved by them.

Nina is the niece of UPD’s other K9, Ginger.
