K-9 Explosives Unit Dog Ginger

Ginger

Explosives Detection Dog

Ginger is a golden retriever who serves the University Police Department as an explosives detection K9. Ginger is trained to search for possible explosives through their odor and works diligently alongside her handler, Lt. Josh Cook. She searches campus buildings and athletic venues regularly to help keep our campus safe.

Off the clock, Ginger loves to spot wildlife near the home she lives in with Lt. Cook’s family. She is a lover of all peanut butter treats, cooked broccoli and the game of fetch. Ginger is a loyal companion, often following Lt. Cook around both at work and at home, and her humans love having her as part of their family.

Ginger is the aunt of UPD’s other K9, Nina.
