Threat Assessment

All University community members should immediately report any incident (s) of potentially threatening, harmful or criminal behavior of community members, customers, or visitors that may affect the safety or security of others or property to their immediate supervisor or University official as appropriate. Suspicious individuals or activities should also be reported as soon as possible to a supervisor.

In emergency situations or criminal acts, the University Police Department should be contacted at 293-2677 (COPS) or call 911.

If you become concerned that an individual may pose a risk for harming them self or others complete the form under “Report a Threat” and tell us your concerns by checking the appropriate behavior, and then provide a brief description of the concerning behavior. By clicking submit, it will be sent to our Threat Assessment Communication Team and/or the Police for evaluation. In case of an imminent safety threat, notify the University Police at 304-293-2677 or call 911 immediately and take steps to secure the area and move others from harm’s way.

We encourage you to read the Violence Prevention Manual and Warning Signs of Violence on this site as well.

Help us keep our university safe for all by being an active partner with us.
